Fertile Stems

fertile stems

I had asked my mother to pick fertile stems, which are wild plants and called tsukushi in Japanese. Because these only can be seen and eaten in spring, I really wanted to eat them, which were my favorite ones when I was child. I don't remember how many years ago I ate them last time. My mother picked some fertile stems on the day I visited my parents. Yesterday, I cooked a bowl of rice with cooked fertile stems and egg. Even though those shrank after heating, those tasted great! I had good experience in Japan because of spring.
