The Best Sushi Restaurants Around Tenjinbashi in Osaka, Japan

As I mentioned before, I used to use JR Tenma station to commute to my work place six days a week for four years, so I am pretty familiar with around Tenjinbashi. When I was working in Osaka, my coworker who had worked there over 15 years took me to some sushi restaurants around Tenjinbashi. She really knew the best restaurants there more than me, and she told me, "Tenjinbashi is very famous for sushi, and the most famous sushi restaurants here are Harukoma, Sushimasa and Yakkozushi." She took me to some sushi restaurants which serve high quality fresh sushi at reasonable prices. There are a great number of sushi restaurants around Tenjinbashi, so if you don't know which restaurants you should go, you might go to wrong places. Today, I'm going to share with you the best sushi restaurants around Tenjinbashi.

Harukoma 春駒
5-5-2 Tenjinbashi, Kita-ku, Osaka
hours: 11:00 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
closed: Tuesday

Harukoma is my most favorite restaurant in Japan! I don't remember how many times I went there. Their sushi is incredibly reasonable considering high quality. There is always a long line to enter this restaurant. If you cannot read and write sushi terms in Japanese, it might be hard for you. I listed sushi terms you need to know at the end of this entry. At Harukoma, you will find a piece of paper and pencil, so you need to write what kinds of sushi and how many plate you want like the example below.

 Example:
まぐろ 2
サーモン 3
いか 1
うに 1

Yakkosushi Naniwacho Souhonten 奴寿司浪花町総本店
5-3 Naniwacho, Osaka Kita-ku, Osaka

This sushi restaurant is not located in Tenjinbashi but is pretty close there. This restaurant's famous menu is おまかせコース, omakase course, which is that sushi chef will make sushi with using seasonal fresh fish for you until you tell him to stop. If you have something you cannot eat or don't like, you can tell him about that. You can also tell what kinds of sushi you like. The sushi chef will make the best sushi for you.  Each plate, which has two kinds of sushi, of omakase course costs 315 yen. When my coworker took me to this restaurant, we ordered omakase course. If you don't know what kinds of sushi you like but want to try authentic sushi, omakase course will be right for you because sushi chef chooses for you. You can try as many kinds as you like, but don't forget to say stop when you are full. You can also order other than omakase course like other sushi restaurants.

Yakkosushi Souhonten 奴寿司 総本店
5-6-22  Tenjinbashi, Osaka Kita-ku, Osaka
hours: 12:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
closed: Thursday

I haven't been to this restaurant, but this is a parent restaurant of Yakkosushi. If you go to this restaurant, I recommend you to have omakase course as well.

Sushimasa Higashiten すし政 東店
5-3-4 Tenjinbashi, Osaka Kita-ku, Osaka
hours: 11:20 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

This restaurant is very tight but serves authentic sushi with very reasonable price. They also have lunch special, which is a combo, a several sushi and red miso soup, for 500 yen through 1500 yen! If you don't mind tight space, you should try this restaurant.

Sushimasa Honten すし政 本店
4-9-10 Tenjinbashi, Osaka Kita-ku, Osaka
hours: 10:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
closed: Monday

I've never been to this restaurant, but I would like to mention it because of popularity. This sushi restaurant is located under the elevating structure of JR Tenma Station, so you can hear the sounds of trains sometimes. The price of sushi is higher than Sushimasa Higashiten, but is still reasonable. The prices of sushi sets are 1260 yen, 1890 yen and 2835 yen.
