Marutai Oita Torigara Shoyu Ramen

Marutai Oita Torigara Shoyu Ramen
This weekend, my husband finally cooked Marutai Oita Torigara Shoyu Ramen (マルタイ 大分 鶏がら醤油ラーメン), chicken broth based soy sauce ramen, for lunch. :) Tiri (鶏) means chicken, and Torigara (鶏がら) is chicken bones in Japanese. Shoyu (醤油) is soy sauce in Japanese. The soup of torigara shoyu ramen is made from chicken bones and soy sauce.

The beige  map on this package (photo below) is Kyushu (九州), which is the most southwesterly of four main islands of Japan. The yellow area on the map is Oita (大分), a prefecture of Kyusyu Island.

Each pack of Marutai Bou Ramen series always has two servings of instant noodles and soup.

This Oita Torigara Shoyu Ramen has yuzu zest powder! As I mentioned in my previous entry, I have been really into yuzu kosho these days. I was really excited when I found that it included yuzu zest powder! :)

I'm going to share how he cooks instant ramen.

Cook noodles first. Try not to over cook. Then, add the liquid soup to the pot.

Move noodles into a large ramen bowl.

While cooking noodles, cook an egg in microwave oven. Put a little water in a small bowl and put a fresh egg in it. Then microwave it for seconds. He told me that microwave it for 20 seconds, and microwave it for another 15 seconds. He told me that the cooking time depends on size of egg. Keep in mind that if you over cooked the egg in a microwave oven, it would be exploded in it. Try not to over cook the egg.

Pour the soup over the noodles.

Top it with chopped green onions.

Add kizami shoga, shredded red ginger.

     Add minced garlic.

Garnish it with pieces of nori.

I totally forgot to sprinkle yuzu zest powder over this ramen when I started eating it, but it was already very tasty!

I sprinkled yuzu zest powder and tasted it. The powder completely changed the taste of soup. It had a little citrus flavor and really fresh yuzu aroma, and I really loved it. However, yuzu aroma didn't last very long. However, over all, I really loved Marutai Oita Torigara Shoyu Ramen. We've had six of 8 Kinds of Marutai Kyusyu Ramen so far, and I thought this one was the second or third best ramen from the series! By the way, my most favorite one is Nagasaki Agodashi Ramen for now. Nonetheless, I think this Marutai Oita Torigara Shoyu Ramen was seriously better than Japanese ramen restaurants serve. If you love soy sauce ramen, you should try this ramen. :)

Marutai Kyushu Ramen Series has eight kinds of local ramen from Kyushu Island. Even though our home town is Fukuoka, a prefecture on Kyushu Island, Japan, we were new to try some of local ramen.
