Tsukiji Sushiko in Shinbashi, Tokyo - New Year's Japan Travel Day 5

My husband and I traveled Japan during New Year's holidays. As I mentioned in my previous entry, we took a walk along the main street of Ginza (銀座) and went to Shinbashi (新橋). Then, we decided to have sushi at Tsukiji Sushiko (築地すし好), a sushi restaurant near by Shinbashi station.

As I mentioned in my previous entry, What I Ate at Tenfusa, A Tempura Restaurant in Tokyo Tsukiji Fish Market - New Year's Japan Travel Day 4, we visited Tsukiji Fish Market the previous day, but we didn't have sushi there. That's why we decided to have authentic sushi there. Tsukiji Sushiko serves the finest fresh fish from Tsukiji Fish Market. They have some branches in Tokyo. You can check out locations of Tsukiji Sushiko from their official Website (Japanese). When we went to there at around 7 p.m., there were already some customers but not crowded at all. I didn't have to wait to have a seat there. ;)

We decided to have Nigiwai (にぎわい), a set of 28 pieces of nigiri sushi and one salmon roll.

We really enjoyed their high quality sushi! These were truly authentic! ;) If I want to eat authentic sushi in the U.S., I guess that these would cost over $200 seriously. This Nigiwai set was only 6,000 yen, which was equivalent to $53!

After we enjoyed delicious sushi at Tsukiji Sushiko, we went back to the hotel. Because it was December 31, we watched NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen (紅白歌合戦), an annual music TV show on New Year's Eve in Japan. I really looked forward to watching Namie Amuro's performance. As I mentioned in my previous entry, she is going to retire from the music industry in September of 2018. It was her last appearance on Kohaku Uta Gassen. When I was a child, I felt Kohaku Uta Gassen was a very long hour TV show (four hours and a half), but I felt it wasn't so long that day somehow. Time flies as we get older.

Next day, we decided to go to Kokyo Gaien, I'll write about my Japan travel day 6 next time. :)
